Mosaic
Overview
Mosaic is an affordable community located just four blocks from downtown Frederick. The project transforms 88 barracks-style public housing units into 221 residential units across seven multifamily walk-up apartments and renovated multipurpose facilities. Due to life and health safety risks posed by nearby sinkholes, the project underwent a Section 18 demolition and disposition with HUD. Redeveloped with the Housing Authority of the City of Frederick, Mosaic aims to provide safe, affordable, and high-quality living options for local residents.

Mosaic seeks to rectify the previous placement of affordable housing in less desirable areas and aims to promote environmental justice by creating a sustainable and vibrant community. By providing high-quality housing and fostering a sense of belonging, Mosaic serves as a model for future developments, ensuring that affordable living options contribute positively to the community's social and environmental landscape.
